There is a basic manner for dog training that you should follow while training your dog or interacting with it. The manner or technique that is most important while training your dog is positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement means increasing the frequency of a behavior in the future by adding a stimulus which is pleasant to the subject concerned. Here, your dog is the subject. If you give it a treat immediately after it eliminates in the right place, you are increasing the future frequency of your dog eliminating in the right place through positive reinforcement. Rewards, praise and treats are all forms of positive reinforcement.


Teaching your dog obedience can be a difficult task; but when you teach it obedience through positive reinforcement, you can see almost immediate results. The next time you tell your dog to come, give it a piece of food that it loves. It will come as soon as you ask it to come the next time you do in anticipation of a treat. Even though this might not be obedience per se, your dog does obey you, for whatever reason.
